An enormous explosion destroyed the port of Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon. It is reported that at least 100 people have been killed and over 4,000 people are injured. These numbers are likely to continue to rise.
The eastern part of Beirut’s port has been totally destroyed, and buildings across the city have been severely damaged.
Hospitals have been heavily damaged, and they are overwhelmed with the number of people now needing medical help – unable to treat everyone. Some have had to be treated in the streets and many sent to hospitals outside Beirut.
Al Hasanaat Foundation is working closely with its partner on the ground. The immediate focus is on saving lives. Al Hasanaat Foundation aims to provide a quick response to any emergency projects that arise in the countries that have been afflicted.
When there are instances of earthquakes, floods, humanitarian afflictions, we are on the ground delivering food, water, shelter and healthcare products.
The dust will not settle quickly or easily. People face a long, difficult road ahead.
Our most recent emergency response has been for the people of Lebanon who have been afflicted by the explosion. Families have lost their homes, belongings and family members.
Around 200,000 people have lost their homes meaning there is a huge need for alternative shelters. This includes the quick maintenance of doors and windows on the less damaged shelters to make it safer for women and children.”
