Nepal Emergency Appeal

The people of Nepal are facing a disaster that arrived without warning. In the early hours of Wednesday 26th August, a catastrophic flash flood surged down the Bhote Koshi river into the northern districts of Rasuwa and Nuwakot, sweeping away entire villages in minutes. Homes, roads, bridges and power lines were destroyed. Hundreds have lost their lives, more than a thousand people remain missing, and tens of thousands have been displaced from communities that no longer exist. Families who went to sleep with everything have woken with nothing, searching for relatives among the debris and waiting for help to reach them.

The humanitarian situation remains critical. Whole communities are cut off, reachable only by air, as landslides and destroyed bridges block the roads that once connected them. Clean water and sanitation systems have been washed away, leaving displaced families without safe drinking water and at rising risk of waterborne disease. Food supplies are gone, shelter is scarce, and the nights are cold. Your support can bring relief in these desperate hours. We aim to deliver emergency food parcels to families who have lost their homes and food stores, supply clean and safe drinking water to communities whose water systems have been destroyed, and provide survival essentials such as blankets, warm clothing and temporary shelter for those sleeping in the open. Beyond immediate relief, we are committed to supporting families as they begin to rebuild, helping farmers and small traders who have lost their land, livestock and livelihoods to the floodwaters. Every effort is made to bring dignity back to families who have lost everything and to help them rebuild a life filled with stability and hope.
